I have an adorable russian desert tortoise that I rescued from a friend (who was given it by his girlfriend) a year ago. I'm leaving the country this summer for 6 weeks and I can't afford the local boarding costs ($42/week)... does anyone know if there is anything like a pet sitting exchange or a way to find other people who have tortoises who would take old boris for relatively little cash or a trade of me pet-sitting when they go away? The only thing I can find online is adoption info and I'm not trying to give him up for adoption! Are there any other options anyone recommends? Thanks!!! PS I live in Berkeley, CA.

I"d look for local herp clubs in your area. I"m not that familiar with California, but I"m sure it's a hotspot for them.
