tried all the good spots, seems like only one snake comes around a year, although i did find three copperheads, two cottonmouths, and a black snake in my searches. (all but the black snake were quickly dispatched with my walking staff)
ive been trying around water mainly, cuz thats were i found the last two garters. should i venture out into the deep woods in search of another garter? im not sure what to look for, ive been searching in crevices in rocks, around water, under brush, in the garden, in the grass, under wood piles, every where. only thing im finding is poisonous snakes...

I am hoping that "quickly dispatched" you mean removed from your path and left to crawl off alive....Killing a snake snake because its venomous is ridiculous! snakes don't actively seek out people and harm them, they mainly bite in self defense. Humans cause more pain and suffering to humans than all the animals combined! So, since humans have the potential to harm you, shouldn't you "dispatch" them also??? Aslo, where I live, it's illegal to kill reptiles like that, they have to be on your own property and pose a threat to family or pets before you can kill they, not to mention that applies only to rattlesnakes....
