I have a 20 month old Egyptian, not of the microlepsis variety, and last fall I moved him into a 2ft x 4ft cage that I built. I had hoped that he would be able to live in that for a few years, and he probably *could* but I can tell that he is already itching for more space. Whether due to age, personality, or type of Uro, Mosca is MUCH more active and utilizes his cage space a lot more than my mali did. If I were you, I would certainly not go for anything smaller than 2ft x 4ft. I had thought that if I were to build the cage again I would make it shorter, but Mosca enjoys climbing, so I am glad I have the extra height, even though it takes a power plant to heat the thing.
Here is the web site I put together when I built the cage"

I *really* need to update it, but for the moment that is the best that I have.
Let me know if I can be of any more help!
Elizabeth
ps - this picture was taken last Fall, Mosca is considerably bigger now.
