was selling arabesques from a arabesque to arabesque breeding like a year ago or so. They did not look special but he was selling them as poss supers? Maybe someone else can shed some more light on this topic.

I think they look pretty special:

I'm with you........they look awesome! Steve did say they were possibles and he would need to breed more to prove the "Super".

Psycodelic Apr 18, 2006 08:59 AM

I meant that they were not clearly identifiable as supers and if I remember correctly he advertized them as poss supers or something along those lines. When you see super forms of other pattern morphs ypu can easily pick them out of the crowd (jungles/super jungles, motley/ super motley) do you see what I mean? That is what I meant by special, sorry if there was a lack of communication. The one you posted however is crazy!!! I would bet money it is a super, I'm glad you were able to shed some more light.

Greg, I had a feeling thats what you were saying. These are some insane lookers for sure!

Psycodelic Apr 18, 2006 09:10 AM

What year are they? Do you have any updated pics they look like the ones on the original advertizment. I'm wondering if they have a different color to them compared to regular arabesques as adults. What are you panning on breeding them to? It would be nuts to see a snake with two latteral pin stripes!

LOL......I wish they were mine!! NO these are pics Steve sent me, not sure on the year.

Then I would consider the Arabesque to be dominant, like hypos, not "co-dominant" as many breeders insist. The examples Greg illustrated in his post above, are indicative of "co-dominance",in which the heterozygous & homozygous forms of a given mutation are phenotypically different in appearance. it's interesting to me that no one has come closer to proving this mutation conclusively. I remember seeing the first ones,on display in Baltimore,(94' I think?)that's a fair amount of time considering how many are working with them.

I have always been intrigued by this mutation and plan to do several breeding trials attempting to prove the genetic inheritance. Problem is funding. I hope to get my first arabesque in the next year, and that is only a start. Reguardless, if no one else attempts this before I am able you can count on me for well documented breeding trails concerning the arabesque mutation.

If they have been around for twelve years where the hack have they been hiding??? Albinos have not been on the market much longer and that is a recessive trait and they are everywhere!

I just picked up a 2003 female arabasque, over 6', ready to go. Plus she's 100% het albino, verifiable by Pete Kahl himself, as this was one of his holdbacks.

I am debating throwing 3 males at her in the upcoming season-
-2004 male albino
-2005 Male Arabasque
-2004 male arabasque 50% het albino (breeder loan from the guy I purchased her from

thoughts/suggestions?????

here's pics of my girl again, for those who missed it... I'm in love!
