herpluver Jul 29, 2003 10:58 PM

i know there are all kinds of posts on this but i have a hard time with the new "search the forum" i never find what i need. anyways, i just realized the drawback to A/C the humidity is lowered alot. i found both my BP's with retained shed, and one with both eyes retained, i've been misting 3 times a day, and today got some of the "shed ease" and soaked them both. so now what do i do? i'm feeling really dumb about all this so please don't bash me to much

You could try putting scotch tape around ur finger so the sticky part is out and gently touch its eyes.

Works for me great!

MAKE SURE THT ITS EYE CAPE REALLY IS RETAIND AND UR NOT TOUCHING THE SNAKES BARE EYE WITH TAPE!!!!!!!

Good Luck! Mike

I agree with boaboy, this method works great. Here's what I do first. I take some mineral oil on a q-tip and apply some generously to the eyecap. Then give it an hour or two. Once the oil has soaked in some, hopefully loosening the eyecap, then take the scotch tape and form a loop around your pointer and middle finger. Then, using a rolling motion, gently go across the eyecaps. This will usually work. If it doesn't try doing the same about 24 hrs later. If again this doesn't work, I'd just leave it for the next shed. Increase the humidity with spraying right before the shed and it will probably come off with this shed. If it still doesn't come off, I've been told to bring it to a vet for them to remove. I've never gotten to the point of using a vet for this. It's always worked for me. Best of luck, Scott.
