Can someone identify this toad for me?

lonegreywolf20 Apr 18, 2006 11:21 AM

My kids found a toad in our backyard this morning, just about 30 minutes ago and I'm not really sure what kind it is. My 1st grader would like to be able to look up information on it, but I don't know what kind of toad it is. We're in Cnetral Ny if that helps at all. I have one picture for your viewing pleasure, but I am including the link in case you would like to see more of it to be able to tell.
The album for teh pictures is called toad and you will need to click that to see the other pictures.

looks like an american toad - bufo americanus. I don't think you are in the range of Fowler's toads (which look very similar to americans and easily mistaken for them).. i think fowler's are more along the southern part of NY not up in the central area.
