can't wait until mine start doing that, but they haven't even turned black yet, and they're july 04's. shouldn't they be black by now? btw, great looking snakes!

They usually turn black between their first and second year. Remember that they turn blacker with each shed, and that how often they shed is dependant on how much they eat. So if you aren't feeding them heavily, it will take longer for this to occur. Plus, every snake is different. I have a 5 year old adult that still has a small amount of tricolor on his belly.

thanks paul. that helps, and it makes sense now that i think of it! i'm not power feeding them at all or anything like that. usually just once every 7-10 days. thanks!
