Problem with young male yellowhead

collaredkeeper Apr 19, 2006 03:32 PM

Hey guys,
haven't been on in awhile but within the last week i have viewed some problem with my male yellowhead juvie. For some reason he has developed bruise-looking colorations on his tail and legs. Its not all too bad like a disease, but is concerning me. The bruises are about 1/4"x1/4" and arent all too big.
The only idea i can come to is the sand ingestion, or maybe some type of burn from the sand, but the other female juvie doesn't have any problems with it either. I just switch baced to the 100watt (from the 25 watt) from 4 days worth of observations and it still doesn't look better.
Any help?
Thanks

what your seeing on him? Your saying they look like bruises? Blood blistery, or just dark spots?

It makes me feel sad just looking at it.

Sure it is not burns? Does it appear to look like blood under the skin? How is he acting besides these bruise marks? Lethargic, no appetite, thin?

Talk to me Tony, ?????

i can't really tell from the pic, my dad's monitor is old and it sometimes makes pics look unclear. anyway, i just went through blister disease with lucia but she had it in the arm pits of her back legs and on her tummy. towards the end when it was getting worse, she was developing it on her eyelids and her kneecap

these are the worst pictures i have, i never took anymore after these although the spots got much worse. eventually i would say most of her lower stomach became covered in those red spots and the spots in her armpits were connected to the spots on her stomach. several vets later, i got one who gave me fortaz and silvadine (sp?) and it has been clearing it right up, although the scars aren't very pretty. i am not saying your lizard has blister disease but thought you might like the info as baytril and bactrim did not help her blisters go away

most IMPORTANTLY i would get the little booger to a vet.

blisters like that, although the stomach one looks exact. I wish there was a vet nearby, but ill have to find a way. The sores seem to me like blood irritation under the skin.

under the skin, I would also say this is something the Vet should help you with Tony. Some sort of infection of sorts going on.

In the pic you posted he seems thin too, and has his eyes closed, is he just resting or is he not acting right besides the marks?
