Attaching Broms

herper500 Jul 30, 2003 01:35 AM

I got a load of plants yesterday from Peace Of the Tropics. They were absolutly awsome and healthy. I got everything planted and everything set up except for the bromlaids he sent me. I need to attach 2 of them to a log (not cork) that is about 3 inches around, so I don't really want to wire it on. I do have some green plastic ties I could use - but am not sure how tight to put them or on what part of the plant to put them on. I've heard of some people using silicon to attach broms. I have a bottle of clear silicon and am wondering if this would work.

Sorry about the long post. I would highly suggest Ordering from Ken if looking for plants. I will get pictures of the cage set up soon.

Thanks in advance,
Erik

well when i attached my brom to my tree fern back ground i used silicon. Heres what i did.

1) I found agood place for it (duh)

2) I got some fishing line and lightly tied around the brom and ran the line past my tank lid and held the fishing line in place with tape. (basically the fishing line is supporting the brom and if adjusted correctly you can set it up extactly like you want it to be).

3) With the brom "dangling in the wind" i took out my silicon and went to town. I put some silicon on the roots then too ksome spaghum (sp?) moss and placed on the silicon so my brom could get and retain water better.

4) after holding it in place for about 20 minutes i let it go and removed the fishing line after a week. and withen a month my brom went from a laterial positoin to nearly standing straight up.

you can see pictures of this in my album. you can even see how my brom took root over a few months
