ALL those snakes are very nice animals. The babies will be incredible. Funny that I had a pair give me slugs 3 years in a row...yet with all my other snakes eggs were abundant. Just wasn't meant to be. Looking forward to seeing some baby pics.

Tom,

Sounds like you may have a male that's shooting blanks. I think you have a scope don't you? Have you checked to see if he's got swimmers? If so, maybe its your girl???? If you want to I've got several males and if you send me yer girl maybe we can change your Thayeri fortunes. Lemme know.

Thanks but I just gave them to John Lassiter on loan, probably permanent loan. I have found that having a group of snakes that all thrive under the same conditions was best for me, so I parted with my Thayeri, Black Milks, and Mexican Pines. They like it cooler than my ambient temps hang at so it was best for the snakes. Thanks for the offer though, Tom Stevens

Oh ya, I remember John mentioning that. Your snakes are in good hands. John will figure out which one is the culprit. LOL

That MSP male is as vibrant animal as any thayeri I've ever seen. Congrats on the copulations.

Thanks Horridus, I like the amount of red he has on his head and neck. Here's a couple more pics.

I like both snakes in the top photo. I actually like all of these, but the top photo enticed me the most. I hope you get plenty of little ones. (I hope that I can still legally buy new snakes when the late summer rolls around.)

It's not how many snakes you have. It's how happy and healthy you can keep them.

Thanks Bill,

Are you talkin about the two pics with the red and grey female? I'm amazed at how many people have shown interest in her.

What going on in LA? Are they trying to regulate Herps? Whats up there?

Vichris,

I love the red, black, and gray female, but I also like that leonis in the first picture. All of your animals are impressive, but those impress me the most.

Yep, we're having some political problems in Louisiana. We're not supposed to talk about it much in this forum, but the text of the bill would prohibit the "importation or possession" of "non-indigenous constrictors." For those who can prove "previous ownership," there will be a permitting system to allow us to keep the animals that we have now. However, if the law is strictly enforced as the bill is written, I could never expand my collection once the bill became law except by catching local species.

The guy who introduced the bill claims that he didn't know that all snakes were either venomous or constrictors. (Venomous snakes are already banned except by permit.) Someone else also claimed that they meant "non-indigenous" to mean not indigenous to the United States. How they would work out these details if the bill became law is anyone's guess.

Of course, I love my ball pythons, and I'll be very angry if I can never have more of them. If the bill is amended to prohibit only the pythons and boas, I could continue keeping kingsnakes, but maybe it would never be the same again. I might get out entirely rather than be constantly reminded of what I can't have.

The relevant point of all of this and reason that I mention it is that I'm waiting to see what will happen to know whether I can ever get into the thayeri. I suspect that the bill will either pass or fail before your eggs can hatch. If the bill passes, I certainly won't be interested. If the bill fails, I'm still looking at thayeri as a possible fourth snake. I'm also looking pretty hard at some of the mountain kingsnakes. I'm somewhat limited by space for cages, so I'm still choosing my animals carefully. I'll stick around at least long enough to see what you produce with these guys.

Thanks,

Bill

PS. Did your city ever pass that law requiring you to pay $35 per snake to keep your animals?

Bill,

Wow, and I thought we were having issues here. The deal here in Albuquerque has been tabled indefinatly. So it may come up again.

I'd like to talk to you more about this. Email me at cgarcia26@comcast.net. I saw your posts on the open forum. We have alot in common. Talk with you soon.

I've made several attempts to send you an e-mail. AOL seems to be doing its best tonight to keep me from using the service. I hope that at least one of them arrives in your in box.
