Need to heat a 48" tall Python cage...

phiff1 Apr 20, 2006 12:40 PM

looking for opinions on the best way to do this. I like how this snake perches so I want to have heat coming from the top of the cage. Do you think it would work having heat lamps on the inside of the roof? I'm worried about this very curious snake burning herself.
Thanks in advance.

I have a 4x4x2 Cages by design cage with an opining at the top where I have a ceramic heater bulb and shield. Sits slightly above the screen mesh, and the temp is set at about 18" down. Snake "JC carpet" adjusts his position to his liking. Sleeps and digests at the top, goes down for a drink and to feed.

(I have had some problems with mine pushing so hard on the screen that she cuts herself.)

No, it's a bit too warm up there, and it's only a 9" square area. Nothing for him to sit on underneath it.
