Well, It helps a little. High blushings and clean belly, but is there anything else that stands out on these fires.

toshamc Apr 20, 2006 05:51 PM

OK my totally unprofessional-only-seen-two-in-person-but-looked-at-a-lot-of-pictures opinion.

Like the yellowbelly - they have a definate "that's different" coloring to them. I don't know how to describe it "brighter but flater" coloring maybe kind of but there is a different coloring to them.

Also there is the head spot - yeah I know there are a lot of balls with the head spot but all fires seem to have them.

Honestly I'm not all together sure if there is an exact science other than buying from a proven source. maybe someone working with them can expand more.

After I hatched out my Emberballs, I went on a fact finding mission to see if my Embers are indeed Fires. I was told to look for the following:

1-Dot on their head, yeah, usually gold or brown.
2-As babies, look like a cross between a hypo and Pastel. Bright colors, with lemon yellows along their spine, and brown or peach on the sides, with darker brown speckles.
3-A stripe, yeah, this may or may not be a sign, but something about a stripe near their tails, and looking at my Embers, what people may be talking about is on the belly, some dark pattern runs togather, to make a 2 inch long stripe, on the sides of the belly.

My two adult females are a toffee color. The babies are still very nice, one just shed, if you want a quick pick of her, let me know. I mean JUST shed. On a side note, my Mojave cross, that I feel will turn out to be a Mojave Fire, is a bichin snake. VERY faded, very cool, probably my favorite snake at my place. The babies and adults could be confused with a Hypo, however, as babies, the black is not faded like on the Hypos, but dark like a Pastel.

Pic number one is the Mojave and Mojave cross, both poss het Hypos, Pic number two is a horrible baby pic of an Ember, and Pic number three is a very recent pic of an Ember.

I will take that as a compliment, I guess.

The first big female in the pics was bred to a Mojave Het Hypo male, and we got Mojaves and the Mojave cross. SEVERAL people have looked at the Mojave crosses, and said they are not a Hypo Mojave, but if you look at Dan Sutherlands site, their Mojave Fire is identical to my Mojave cross.....

Second thing, the snake you are calling a Burgundy, the second pic, gave birth to the third snake from a Ghost sire....no Pastel in the mating scene at all.

PICS...Larger snake in pic one, bred to snake in pic two and three (same female in pic two and three) produced the smaller snake in pic one.

Yeah, and between JUST you and me Tosha, I am hoping it proves to be a new morph, and not a Fire....but do not tell anyone

Fireballs start out as very bright looking babies, and with each consecutive shed they get BRIGHTER, looking more like some extreme hypo in the end. They are one of the few snakes out there that actually get better with age, while all the others dull out. There might be a first cross out there this year, and I am excited to see how they mature in combination with new morphs.
