Question/Help?

Well.. I went to go get my burm a second rabbit to eat today, pre-killed it with c02 as I did the first one. Did everything the same... except feed him a rat first. Well when I dangled the rabbit in his cage near him, he acted afraid of it. He wasn't interested at all. So I went and pre-killed a rat for him.. dangled it in front of him.. and nothing.. So i left him with the rat, and rabbit for about 10 mins.. came back and the rat was gone. He was sniffing the rabbit so I left again, came back 10 mins later again and he ate a bit past the rabbits front paws and then spit it out and left it. The rabbit was just a TAD bit bigger than the first. He ate the first one so fast I thought he needed larger. Maybe I was wrong? You guys think the rabbit may have been too big? or maybe he wasn't hungry enough for it? Any suggestions? He's usually hungry all the time. = / I hate I wasted a drive to my rabbit breeder and $.. Thanks!

How big is your burm and how big was the rabbit?

Just one of those things. I have had similar experiences usually after introducing successfully a new food. For example an Emory's Ratsnake that ate rat pups for almost a year and then refused to eat anything other than hopper mice.

So often we wish we had a crystal ball....(sigh)

Simply sounds like your burm wasn't as hungry as you thought. Next time just freeze the rabbit if he refuses and give him a week. My rabbit connection is an hour away so I buy 15-20 at a time and kill em with co2 and freeze them all anyway.

jwilson.. I thought that originally, I just wanted a 2nd opinion. I will admit I thought it was too sooon from the first one, but he took that 1st rabbit down in less than two mins, and that's probably adding some seconds(If you look down on forum youll see my 1st post about his 1st bunny) Most larger pythons take over 5-10mins from my understanding. It was a misjudge with me is all I feel sure. With the freezing thing though.. I tried to get him on F/T prey and he was NOT going for it.. I let him go without food for roughly 7 months.. Before I finally gave in and gave him a P/K rat. The main reason I think he wasn't into F/T prey is I don't have a temp gun and I didn't have it at the correct temp. I have since built a C02 chamber that works flawlessly and feed P/K and he loves it! Thanks for the input. much appreciated.
