Mating Question

buggsteer Apr 21, 2006 12:43 AM

I have two ball pythons, very healthy. I was getting my male out today and I noticed when I had him out of the cage, they were in the middle of mating. I had to have pulled them apart not knowing it. There was blood and his penis was out. Im not familar with breeding at all, so I am really confused. Is this harmful at all for my snakes? Should I do something now? Any replies will be very helpful and appreciated. Thanks

Jim Stroh

Depends, do you want them to mate or not? Personally, I would advice against keeping snakes together unless it is for breeding reasons, and I am sure others on here can second that notion.

If you want babies, keep them together. Else, seperate them, and wait to see if she is gravid or not. Then, start doing your research on gravid females.
