01 EBV RG / 04Jungle / 04 Harlequin Pics

RyanHomsey Apr 21, 2006 01:07 AM

You've seen both recently but I snapped some new shots anyway. Hope you dont mind .

The male (04' Jungle) courted the female (01' EBV Red Group) back in February/March. The female is housed in a lower rack so it was difficult for me to observe them. What I was able to observe is that the male was off and on (tails wrapped courting) daily, everyday. The female went into a long shed period in March and finally shed on April 4... which would give her a due date of July 18 if she is gravid. The male has been kept in with her ever since and will not court her. Fingers crossed.

The Harlequin female from Gray Rushin has been on medium rats for some time now and will be ready for larges in about 2 months. She will be set to go for the 07/08 breeding season. She was the largest in the litter and has grown quickly over the last year and a half with conservative feedings. She will be my female boa to raise from a neonate and breed... can't wait!

All pics were taken with flash bounced from the ceiling and were white balance calibrated.

Boy, oh boy - I looked at those pics for 20 minutes. I hope you get some babies from that great pairing. That would make some really nice Jungles. I bet the non- Jungles will look so good as well, that you'll have a hard time trying to figure them out. haha.

Delusions of Grandeur feed the EGO...

right until I invested in my Nikon speedlight. Even with my DSLR (Nikon D50) and its on-camera flash I could not get good results. The power of the speedlight to shoot up at the ceiling and bounce the light back down... and to so accurately expose (decide how much power to light things up correctly) has really opened up indoor boa pictures for me. If you ever get into DSLR cameras and want a nice flash, I highly reccomend the SB-800 (what I use)... they arent cheap though! $300 range.
