Rattlesnake expert needed

RobertPreston Apr 21, 2006 08:08 AM

As some of you know, I'm a newspaper editor in south Georgia. I'd like to do a story on the challenges facing rattlesnakes, especially the EDB. I'd like to talk to a couple of experts (at least two) that are familiar with the EDB, habitat destruction, all that -- basically, what's happening to their numbers and why. Please send me any suggestions to rnhpreston@charter.net.

Thanks,
RP

Just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to get your facts straight before anyting goes to the press. Too often papers go with local lore or "generally accepted" information and print mis-information. It's almost sad that we have to go out of our way to show appreciation for your efforts, but they are deserved nonetheless.
I am no real use for EBD info. Sorry! Post the article online here if you like after its finalized!

"The more people I meet, the more I like my snakes"

The other paper in our hometown printed a photo of the guy holding the big dead western diamondback and claimed it was found near our hometown in south Georgia. Crazy, stupid stuff. That kind of stuff makes all of us look bad. I try to do the best I can to carefully research facts and not spread misinformation. Unfortunately, not everyone does that.
