Is she going to lay..?

seboba17 Apr 21, 2006 10:09 AM

This is my first time breeding corns. The two corns were together in early march and showed a lot of breeding behavior, but I'm not sure I observed any actaul mating, but that doesn't mean they didn't, I was out of the room alot.

My female Eden shed two days ago, and ever since has been restless. She's pacing around her tank, going in and out of her hides and slithering under her water bowl. Does this mean she's getting ready to lay? It's certainly abnormal behavior, but I have seen it during breeding seasons past when she hadn't been with a male.

Since I am not a breeding expert, I can only tell you my experience. I had three gravid snakes this year (2 corns, 1 king). All three females started wondering the cage after their post mating (pre-lay) shed. They would go in and out of hides, nest boxes. Basically what they are doing is trying to find the best place to lay. It is better to have a nest box in the cage after shed, just to be safe, rather than sorry.
good luck

Thanks! I made a nest box for her already. I hope she uses it!
