cork bark

reptilelover1234 Apr 22, 2006 10:30 AM

i made a corkbark background that i put bromiliads on and it has like some cracks and holes in it that are big enough for the dartfrogs to get through. would it be bad if they get behing the wall of cork? should i seel it was spagnum moss?

I usually stuff the holes with wet sphagnum moss. They will still burrow into this, and I've often had them get behind the cork against the back glass, especially the thumbnails. While this isn't necessarily bad for them, as they know how to get out, it sometimes becomes their preferred hang out. I like to see them out in view more. While I've never tried it, some people have been using Great Stuff foam as a filler, then pressing substrate to this such as cocoanut fiber or sphagnum.
