1 pissed snake!!

redhuskerrod Apr 22, 2006 12:10 PM

I was cleaning the cage out the other night and took my snake out. As I was holding him He struck at me, I then put him back in the cage and finished changing the paper. He then started making a hissing noise which told me he was not happy. I put his hides back in and he was gone. I have had this snake now for about two months and he has only ate 3mice. I have offered him frozen and live rats but he wont touch them. And the other day I put two mice in his cage and he wanted nothing to do with them. My question is how long would you wait to feed him again and has anyone ever known a Ball Python that cannot be handled? This snake is about 3ft and was rescued from the Iowa humane society, I have no idea what he used to eat or his habits. Is it possible that he just does'nt like me or maybe he was just never handled and not use to it. Any sugestions on these subjects would be great. Sorry the message is all over the place, I am kinda in a hurry.

Thank you so much,
Rodney

AS FAR AS THE FEEDING I USUALLY WAIT UNTIL THE SNAKE APPEARS TO BE HUNTING AFTER THEY'VE GONE OFF FEED. I'VE ALSO HAD SEVERAL MEAN BALLS I THINK IT'S JUST THEIR PERSONALITY.

Sounds like you might have gotten yourself a WC adult. With enough patience and care, someday it might be more tame.

Not sure how much help this is going to be but read my Mice to rats post a few rows down. Sounds to me like he may be a lil hungry. Maybe where the aggression is coming from.

Good luck tho.
