Summer price speculation

dynamohum1 Apr 22, 2006 12:30 PM

I will be adding a second python this summer (son got one for b-day and daughter now wants one) I purchased a het albino already and was wondering if anyone would care to speculate on how far the prices will drop after everyones eggs hatch in a month or two. Having not been in the hobby for a number of years ( think way back when corn morphs were expensive) I did not know about the B.P. market and price trends. Thanks.

Prices on what? Albinos or het albinos ? Male hets are practically being given away and should not drop a whole lot more I suspect a single male will hover around $100 - het females will probably not get any further down than $400 this year if they do we should shoot everyone selling them for less.

Boy is that a sad prediction - but is only $100 less than what they are being sold for now - I vote we up the price of albino hets - lets all go back to $1500 a pair!!!!

Het albinos sure are not being sold that low here in Canada. I have to really hunt to get a normal ball for under $80 US. Actually last year the cheapest normal female ball python I have seen was $40 CDN (err, roughly $30 US)

WOW, really. There was an entire 50 gal aquarium FULL of CBB well started females (150 gramish) for $15 each at the tinley park show last year.... like 100 or so of them

Maybe I should have bought the whole thing and went up to canada and sold them at $80 a piece...lol

No offense to you, but if you believe those were CBB you're fooling yourself. Those were African imports. Even some of the "BIG GUYS" buy the imports for resale.

I am holding off investing in ball morphs until after September or so because I anticipate the entire ball market to utterly collapse. Too many breeders of all levels producing way too many for this inevitability to not occur. After the unavoidable price war this summer and the subsequent colapse of the ball morph market I expect that the values will level out at a reasonable level and it will be a great time to invest.

German franks post WW2 is a good comparison.

no if it were that bad you would buy a killer bee for 1500 and by the time it was shipped it would be worth 50 bucks. after WW2 germans would get paid and run to the bank because in the time it took them to get the check cashed their check would be worthless and it took a bushel of money to buy a head of cabbage
