Clicking sound when breathing?

jwatts Jul 30, 2003 08:51 AM

Hi I am at my girlfriends house right now and her sister has a whites tree frog, she said up until a week ago it was eating fine and acting normal, but for the last week he has stopped eating and when he tries to move he kind of slides along his right side, like his left foot will move like normal but then when he would be moving his right foot he kind of nose dives.

When he breathes he makes a clicking sound and his mouth opens a bit with every breath. I don't think its a calcium deficiency she was dusting the crickets every other day. She wasn't vitamin dusting them though but could a vitamin deficiency cause this? If so what would be the best way to get the vitamins into him? Could I put some vitamins in some water and soak him in it? would his body uptake the vitamins that way? If his body will uptake the vitamins that way should we soak him in just the water and vitamins or should we soak him in something like pedialyte mixed with the vitamins or sugar water mixed with the vitamins? Oh and she has had him for around 3 months and she got him as a small baby he's about 3 inches from nose to tail end now. I appreciate any help this little guy seems to be suffering.

Despite your best efforts, what this frog needs is a veterinarian not a homemade vitamin bath. It is impossible to diagnose the frogs problem like this. Treating a severe disorder like this without knowing the root cause will most likely make it worse. Consider that the animal is probably suffering, just get it to a vet.
