heres the eggs

xblackheart Apr 22, 2006 05:19 PM

The pic looks dirty because of the moss that is normally sitting on the eggs. My camera is also not very good. There are two eggs that kinda have blue-green on them. Its what appears to be mold. Also pictured on the right corner is one of the eggs that have those funky cracks. I am only concerned for about 4 eggs total. The rest look good. I did notice that the ones that have cracks and/or mold are a little thicker shelled. At least they feel that way.
I deluted listerine (one of the books mentioned using listerine or antifungal foot powder) and used a q-tip on the eggs with the blue-green look. The color did not go away, but they are no longer slimy feeling, and don't smell as strong.

are infertile. I would just remove them since your eggs are all separated. Not really necessary but I would sprinkle some of that anti fungal powder over the vermiculite where those eggs were placed. Just to prevent any mold from growing on the moist vermiculite and perlite. I would be careful about the amount of moisture as well. Vermiculite and perlite are sufficient, no need for the moss on top of the eggs.
Good luck with the rest of the eggs.

a little mold does not always mean that they are gone. Don't throw them out yet. separating them from the others if possible would be a good idea.

I have put them in seperate containers, but same incubator. I am not giving up on them until they cave in.
