Bump on my snakes nose

GG_HERPS Apr 22, 2006 09:16 PM

My 04 male Hogg Island has a small lump right behind his nostrils. It does not effect his eating, nor does it seem to bother him in any way. He is showing no signs of Resp. He does not even pull away when it is touched so I am guessing that it is not painful. I have not seen this before and I am not sure if I should worry. I do not have a true herp vet in my area. It really seems to have no effect on him I am just wondering. Thank you.

Does he tend to reb his nose on something rough like wire mesh in his cage? Sounds like you are discribing a nose rub. A picture may help beter determine.

I will try to get a pic and post it. I do not think it is a rub since he is in a vision cage and the only wire in there is where the heat lamp sits. He is usually not a rubber. Like I said I will try to post a pic I am not the most gifted person when it comes to technology though.

Well I took him to a vet and it is a sinus infection so he is now on baytril. We have had some very wild weather and the vet thinks that the rapid changing weather might have done it. It has been more humid here than usual and I was still pumping in humidity. Well that is a lesson learned. I did not think about too much humidity. Sometimes the simplest answers are the hardest to see. Thanks

Glad you got things figured out and the problem is treatable.
Good luck with 'em
