crestie pooping question

bluetreefingers Apr 23, 2006 12:47 AM

i have a nice and healthy crestie that has the habit of peeing or pooping on me everytime i handle her (and sometimes she even gives me a combo that is pee AND poo in one sitting).
i really dont mind it, as i find it easier cleaning it off my hand than cleaning it off the tank.
but i was wondering if this is normal with cresties. do all cresties do this? or are some a bit more educated than others?

i guess even cresties have a silly sence of humor

Crested geckos don't normally poop in their owners hands, unless they are feeling stressed or nervious while being handled. Does she do this the moment you pick her up or after you had her out for awhile?

i pick her up and handle her for about 3-4 mins and then comes the pee or poo. she eats alot so i expect it every time i pick her up.
she really doesnt seemed stressed. she is very tame and will stay in my hand with no problem, she got over the jumping off my hands stage aswell.

i usually have a paper towel on hand when i handle her expecting it.
she does it every 2 out of 3 handlings.

oh well... shes been doing it since she was a baby.

now shes a juvi.

i guess i just gotta live with it...

Try putting her down after a minute or two, then pick her up 10-15 minutes later, instead of holding her for 3 minutes or longer. Though she may not be running or jumping she still could be stressed. Either that or she has learned of a great way to keep her cage clean
