Getting your snake on frozen/thawed prey.

Does anyone have any suggestions regarding the topic? I want to get my balls on thawed prey.

If you have a snake with good feeding response (like my female BP, Princess), you can elicit a feeding response by heating up the prey a bit above room temp--like 98.7 degrees.

I know when I did that, my Princess struck and strangled f/t prey.

BP's have heat sensing pits that picks up heat. If you want to maximize your chances of a good feeding session, you want to stack the deck in your favor by: 1. braining the f/t food (ie cut open the skull to expose the good smelling brain). 2. Heat the mouse with a hair dryer to 98.7 degrees or higher. 3. have a hungry snake. 4. be in a darkened room.

If, however, you only have a moderate eater (like my male Westside Strangler), then you are out of luck. The way I get my male to eat f/t food is by scenting a live mouse hopper first with gerbil. He will then very quickly strangle the hopper. I then place the head of a f/t rat into the mouth of the snake as the foot of the mouse is swallowed. Feeding live hoppers is safe because hoppers have small teeth.

Good luck to you. Also, continue to read this forum on any topic that has to do with feeding. I continue to scour the forum for any BP feeding topics that come up. Any thread that has to do with feeding is read by me. I continue to learn and fine-tune my feeding based on my learnings. There is always room for more learning!

cheers.

try to feed one to it if there are problems you could do stunned then FT or fresh killed. But you should make sure the mouse is warm enough but not cooked.

Oh yeah and you could wiggle the mouse so that it "lookes" alive
