breeding these two ???s

pythonis Apr 23, 2006 08:35 AM

the larger is a female and the smaller is the male (obviously). anyway, the female is a colombian and the male is what appears to be an unknown mix. it was sold to me as a colombian but you can see signs of it having what appears to be suri traits. i started to breed them before but decided not to as i know some people frown upon mixed breedings between bcc's and bci's. however, with the male being a possible mix of bci and bcc, would this be an ok match-up? what do you think the desire would be for any babies produced from this pair? from a profesional breeders view, how difficult is it to move (sell) up to 50 bci/c babies? would appreciate any input. thanks.

I am not a professional breeder, but I would think that price would determine the ability to sell in that market. The most widely availible are normal BCI and BCI crosses. Possibly if you asked a lower price or tried to sell large quantities at a time you should be alright. I often see posts requesting to buy entire litters, you may want to check that out.

On another note, you may want to ask yourself why you want to pair these two together. If you are not likely wanting to at least keep one then maybe you want to get another pairing setup. (just playing devils advocate)

Why not breed those two? I can't see any reason not too. Both look healthy, have light coloration and look attractive. I think they might produce a beautiful litter of babies.
As far as moving them. If you ask top dollar and set up a table at the reptile shows it might take awhile. If you whole sale them out, then I would think they would go fast.
Good luck,
Chuck
