Went to go water my garden, and i found this guy in my way. it's has a fleshy pink mouth, NOT a cotton white mouth, so i know it's not a cotton mouth. So what could it be? I live in Jax, FL.

that date on the pic is wrong. It's suppose to be april 23,2006 at 10 something in the morning.

Forgot to mention this before, but this is a smaller version of the big one i've been seeing around my garden. It's like 1/3 it's size. When frightened, it rattles it's tail agaisht leaves and things.

agian incorrect pic date and time.

No worries. It is our common Southern Black racer. Completely harmless except it likely will bite if handled. No venom.

thank you for your help. i figured it wasn't harmfull cause it didn't have any traits for it (eyes and head shape) But the black tounge and fleshy pink mouth throwe my off.

SO thank you for helping find out what it is.
