I have had feeder guppies in a 200 gallon turtle pond for years with four red ear sliders. For most of that time, the turtles have fed on the guppies fast enough to keep the population in balance, given the guppies' quick breeding.

But lately, there has been a population explosion of guppies and they are crowding the pond to an unhealthy point. Short of scooping them all out with nets and letting them die out of water (some people then freeze them and feed them to the turtles later), is there a way to control them, or kill many of them off without harming the turtles?

My local fish store doesn't want them. Thanks!
