Both girls shed

wftright Apr 23, 2006 05:17 PM

Both of my girls shed this weekend. I've taken a few pictures, and I'll soon try to feed them again. They both look wonderful. Ester Lily is as bright as I remember her in the store, and Katrina seems to have come out of this shed a little darker. Katrina didn't have as complete a shed as she's had in the past. These pictures will show a little skin covering a few scales. The skin doesn't seem to be bothering her, so I'm going to let it fall off on its own. She's not in the mood to be photographed and certainly not in the mood to be rubbed. Some of Lily's sores went away with her shed. Here are the best two pictures, and I'll put the next best ones in the next post.

Thanks

Lily does have some neat colors, and those colors and the head fading are what made me think for a moment that she was a pastel. As I looked more closely at some pictures, I realized that she was just a bright and very pretty normal.

Katrina is funny in that she seems to change colors with every shed. Sometimes, she comes out a little lighter. Sometimes, she comes out a little darker. Her dark colors are very vivid this time, but I just couldn't catch them with the camera.

Yes, I live in Louisiana now. How did you know? Also, have you contacted your state senator to oppose HB783. This bill would require us to have permits to keep the snakes that we currently own and would prohibit us from expanding our collections. There's no need for this bill, and we're trying to get all herpers in the state to contact their state senators to fight it.

BTW, I'm in the Gonzales area. How about you?

I've just sent you an e-mail regarding this bill. The system has had some problems with e-mail, so I want to give you some information on this post. The senate website is

http://senate.legis.state.la.us/

and will show you how to contact your senator.

If you drop me an e-mail at gp100ss at aol dot (you know what), I'll send you my phone number as well as sending you e-mails that I've sent to a couple of senators. The senator for New Iberia is on the committee handling this bill, so contacting him would be very helpful. I know you're probably not in his district now, but maybe your being from New Iberia will carry some weight.

I doubt that I'll go to Daytona, but I'm planning to go to the N.O. show in July. Of course, if this bill passes, there may not be a show in N.O. in July. In fact, there may not be any more shows in the state at all. That's why I'm pretty intense about this one.

Thanks,

Bill

Katrina is wonderful. She's the sweetest most patient being in the world.

Lily is neat too, but she'll be neater when she eats. She turned down another rat last night. I'll give her a few days and try her with a mouse. I hate the thought of having to use mice on a ball python, but I'll do it if I must. I'm hoping that I can transition her to f/t rats in the long run. If I can't, she'll be a bigger challenge.
