Hello Everyone,

Its been a long time since I've been here. A lot has happened, please don't judge me. I quit coming the more pregnant I got last winter, and had Aspen Michelle January 30 this year. I live in a very rural part of Nevada and drove down to Las Vegas for a three weeks when I went into labor.

A friend cared for my lizards and crickets. When I returned Annabella (wc C. bicinctores) and Cory (wc C. bicinctores) were no longer plump. Weepah (wc C. bicinctores) and Ezra (cb C. crotaphytus) were fine. I forcefed Annabella a little with a little bit time I find while caring for the baby. I figured Cory was just unable to catch these more wily crickets. Annabella started eating on her own again and Cory appeared to be as well. Its been 10 weeks since I came home. Time flies, Cory has died I realized to late he quit eating and was very dehydrated I tried to get him better every 1-2 hours for 4 days.

Its warmer out, and Neil (my husband) released Weepah back where we caught her last fall and not to far from her Annabella. He said the lizards and insects were out. Weepah was never tamed and didn't have to go through brumation. Annabella prefers wild insect and small lizards which is why she quits eating and has to be forcefed every once in awhile.

We might be moving to Oregon soon. My husband's family all lives there, so while he tests for a job we are going for a vacation to show off the baby. Ezra the only lizard I have left will be coming with us, so I don't have to rely on a babysitter.

The same person who babysat the lizards has apprenticed in the past with a taxidermist and said he would like to stuff and mount Cory. My husband says that would be just plain creepy, and he wouldn't look the same. I am not sure what to do...Cory for the moment appears to be frozen in a healthy looking condition.

I'm sorry for letting him down, this definitely means I want to finish the children's book about him. When I get the time, will probably be awhile. My husband works full time and goes to school online full time besides the move possibly coming up, he barely helps me with the baby or housework. My family lives up in Alaska. There apppears to be no time for anything. He was caring for our pet chickens, but I gave them to my boss this last week.

I hope I will be welcomed back to this forum.

-Nicole

Hi Niki,

I'm so sorry you lost Cory, yes the book has to BE now! I have to appoligise again for not being able to help you when you asked. It would have been so difficult as they all needed seperated tanks, and I just could not do it with kids coming soon.

I'm kind of happy you released Weepah back since she was still so little and having to be hand fed she seemed as though she just was not thriving in captivity anyway! And Anabella will be just fine also.

Things will get easier soon kido, it seems as though Motherhood has got it's GRIPS on you pretty normal, no time for anything for awhile.

Pop in anytime and say hello. Can't wait until your daughter is old enough to join you guys on a herp hike and we can hear all about it.

Take care,

Eve

I think the girls would be okay. Annabella was released in the same area we caught the crested tail C. bicinctores with orange feet. Maybe he is still around and Annabella with her yellow legs would improve diversity.

Hello niki_athena, I had posted an inquiry about you on April 16 and am glad to see you back. Sorry about your lizards but do not blame yourself. It is hard to say all what happened and we have all lost animals despite out best husbandry efforts. I am not sure what species your Ezra is but indigenous species of Collared Lizard is protected in Oregon. You may want to check on that before traveling there with a lizard from that species or that may be confused for that species. Game officers are rarely trained in the finer points of taxonomy. Anyways, congrats to you and your husband on your new child and I hope you continue with your hobby and the forum.
