Mojave Spider pictures ...

gailt Apr 24, 2006 12:10 PM

This female just shed so I took a few pictures for you, there may be a couple of bits of shed she missed
I have no software to tart these photos up, so this is just point and shoot and here it is.

So keep an eye out and if you see an animal that looks like this in anyone's ball collection, I'd appreciate it if you would let me know. Thank you,

That's an awesome snake, Gail! I love the extra yellow that it adds to the spider.

Will we see a mojobee the year?

gailt Apr 24, 2006 04:35 PM

Thanks Chris ... some people may not like how they look, but I love these animals ... they have great personalities as well. They are similar in personality to a Spider with a bit of the Mojave shyness.

I wonder, who gave the Mojave the lame name of Mojo? I personally think that name degrades the morph. Why isn't there some lame nickname for Clowns or Stripes, Pastels or Pewters, or why aren't Lessers called Lesters or Lassies

Hmm...

I never thought of mojo as being "lame." Thought it had to do with being virile or "studly". You hear the term in some blues songs...

Anyhow, my mojave is amazing! Awesome, curious, outgoing personality, always eats, eager breeder. I wish my other 49 ball pythons were all like him!

I think that a mojave bumblebee will be a "better bee" with more yellow and more faded banding. I'm hoping someone will make one this summer.

Did you have a different name in mind?

Chris Morasky

Lol ... a "Better Bee" ... that's cute. I hadn't thought of a name

I find that Mojaves have diverse personalities ...some are feisty, some are shy, most are good eaters, but some are mousers, I find they are all different, whereas Spiders all tend to be good eaters with out going personalities.

I don't think Mojo is bad at all - I like it - reminds me of Jim Morrision - magnetic personality and magic.

Jim Morrison, he was definitely cool, but it makes me think of a moron I use to know.

But I love the Doors

beautifull snake, but it seems like the spider gene kind of ruins the mojave. All that seems to have come from the mojave is some increased yellow and a very slight lightening of the black. Just my opin.

Very nice pictures Gail! Looks quite a bit different from the animal pictured in Kevin's book.

gailt Apr 24, 2006 02:50 PM

It's a lot older, and as most ball pythons, they change as they get older. Look at the difference in Clowns, Pastels, Pewters and so on.

What about a pic with a spider and the mojave spider??

gailt Apr 24, 2006 07:11 PM

Good idea ... by the way, I like that Ember ball of yours ... I meant to post to your transition pics below ... How many Embers do you have?

Gail, I have two Embers that I produced, 1.1, and both 100% Het Hypo. I have the founding female adult, and an animal that might be my adult females mother, which is the female that produced the Mojave cross animals. I think the two adult females produced the same morph, but I really will know more after this year, if I get eggs from the two adult females again. The Mojave cross clutch produced two normal Mojaves, four Mojave crosses, and two normals, so from that clutch, it is hard to draw conclusions.

Pics: Ember adult female, Mojave cross adult female, and Ember and Mojave cross offspring.

going on with those animals. They are beautiful. How exciting for you ... the baby Embers are really cool ... I love how they change and get better as they get older. Kind of like the Desert Ghost and Coral Glows. I wish you the best of luck with your project, and I look forward to seeing more pics as your Embers grow

You think the coral clows get better with age?

From the ones ive seen they really dull out and lose alot of their color and start getting those black scales..

I guess its just personal opinion.

Hows Nigel been?

Of the Enchi Pastel but still retaining some black pigment.

But the bright yellow speckling, and hypomel tendencies really remind me of the enchi even though it is a completely different morph.

Just thought I'd throw that in, and see what ya'll have to say

-Dan

gailt Apr 24, 2006 11:39 PM

I can't wait to see an Enchi in person ... in pictures they are gorgeous. The Spider X Mojave came out different than what I expected. Where the Spider reduced the pattern, the yellow of the body showed up where it is normally covered.
