Why Shed So Delayed?

Ameron Apr 24, 2006 02:03 PM

My Cal King is a 2003 hatchling; this is his first adult year. Last winter was his first hibernation period. Although not truly hibernated at a cooler temperature, he became very inactive beginning in late December and did not eat and remained inactive until April.

As a hatchling, he shed every 4-6 weeks routinely. He has fed twice since becoming active again, but still no shed nor signs of it. His last shed was late December.

Anyone have an idea why his shed is so delayed now?

They shed as they grow. Baby snakes typically grow at a faster rate. Your snake's shed isn't delayed; he just doesn't need to shed yet.
