The black shelf is from Lowe's or Home Depot, they are the garage type plastic shelves. This will be my first year using them, but they should work out ok.

It's always exciting. That's why we do it. Congrats!

In a world dominated by recessives, the pastel is unfortunately viewed as a less worthy morph. Whatayagonnado???

mikebell Apr 25, 2006 09:45 AM

The problem for pastels is that people only think of them as pastels, and not as hets for super pastel or their contribution to the other morphs.

There is nothing more exciting...Good Luck

When I said ,"not that exciting," I meant that compared to all the Pastel Clown pics, the Albino Pied pics, etc., that a Pastel clutch would not be that exciting to people who have hatched out thousands of Balls. I am very excited, and I really like Pastels, and would take all the female Pastels I can get.

Albey Apr 25, 2006 12:13 PM

Congratulations on the clutch. I hope you hatch out some beautiful Female Pastels. To the guy that said “Poor Pastels, It aint easy bein’ Co-Dom!” I say, get a clue dude.

Good luck,
Albey

Are you saying pastels are fully appreciated for what they are? They are clearly not! I personally love pastels, but feel they are viewed as being worth so much less than the recessives. Don't you???

Albey Apr 26, 2006 10:43 AM

If that is the case, I apologize. From the wording in your message it sounded like you were putting Co-Dom’s down and I get a little sick of hearing that. Everybody always talks about how recessives hold their value better but if you look at the price of Het For Albino’s it just isn’t true. You can get a Male Het For Albino for as low as $50.00 if you look hard enough but you will never get a Male Pastel for that price no matter how low they go. Het For Albino’s are always going to look like a normal Ball Python and Pastels are always going to be visible morphs.

Thanks,
Albey

Hey Albey,
My post was intended to be sympathetic towards pastels! The initial post of the thread read "Pastel X Normal, Not all that exciting" and then I responded with "the pastel is unfortunately viewed as a less worthy morph" and "It aint easy being Co-Dom." because they are viewed as less worthy. My honest point of view was the fact that they are under-appreciated by many people compared to recessives. I actually think I have the exact stand on this as you!
Also, to clarify, I wrote "In a world dominated by recessives", and this should have read something more like "In a world dominated by people who seem to prefer recessives". This was just crappy writing.
Anyway, just wanted to clear this up! Sorry if my message was unclear, but it was just a response to someone mentioning it was not all that exciting to hatch pastels. I can't even claim to have done that yet!
