Mating Southern Pacifics

Obediah2 Apr 24, 2006 05:29 PM

I came upon this happy couple today while hiking in Southern California. I've never seen this before and it took me a while to figure out what in the world I was looking at! I got some pictures, but it is hard to see what is going on - I really didn't want to bother them.

Here's hoping I come across the kids one day!

Nice! Spring is definitely here. Here's a pic of the Northerns that I flipped under a rock a couple of years ago. I wanted to peak my camera inside but I didn't want to bother them too much so I carefully placed the rock back after taking the quick pic.

One thing that I think is wierd is that the North Pacs in Washington state seemed to be lighter than the Southern Pacs in SoCal, which is contradictory to what you would assume to be the case. You would think that the darker snake would live in the cooler climate? Hmmmmm interesting stuff. Thanks for sharing the pics Jake.
