Outdoor Enclosures

jwthought Apr 25, 2006 11:42 AM

Has anyone ever tried this? I live in the Florida Keys and Im think of creating some type of large outdoor enclosure (possibly a walk in) for some grandis. Im thinking wooden frame chicken wire and window screening sides. Does anyone one have any insight or experience trying anything like this? There are escaped white's and Cuban tree frogs that live here in the Keys, so I'm confident that the enviornmental specs will be adequate. The only thing Im a bit concerned of is humidity drops during the dry season, but I feel I could run a timed misting system several times a day. Anyway, any question/comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Also don't forget how to keep the food in there. I don't know what you feed but crickets will get out or eat through the vinyl screen.

Sounds cool though, you could certainly grow alot of plants in it.

Good point. I currently feed my white's out of a bowl anyway, so I'd likely place several feeding "stations" throughout the enclosure. I'm still working on what types of frogs would best be suited for something like this. Any other ideas/concerns/suggestions? Thanks.

Oh, and to clarify, in my intitail post I wrote that this would be for gradis' and treefrogs. It would actually be for either one or the other. No both, especially not at first.

The only thing I can think of (and I have no knowledge in these setups!) is possibly predators? Or also chemicals in your yard since we all use something or another on them.
