NEW VISION RACKS who's using them?

coldbloodaddict Apr 25, 2006 12:00 PM

I am thinking of getting a few and would like to know how they perform. I used Freedom Breeder racks in the past, but they have to much ventalation. My snakes were always having bad sheds. Now I use Boaphile plastic racks and they all shed perfect. I like the idea of being able to adjust the heat per level with the Vision racks. If anyone is using the new Vision racks please let me know if you and your snakes are happy with them. Thanks in advance. Jon

Those look like the 32 qt sterilite tubs that I use in my Vision rack. I love my vision. It has been working perfectly. I think it does have a little too much ventilation but the snakes are still shedding well.

Where do you put your large females and could you post a pic of an adult female in the rack.Do they sag?
Thanks, Kevin

Tom, your snake room looks really clean and neat. Wish mine was that way.

I have one of the vision racks. I really like them, I will get a few more in the future.

Are the new vision racks interchangeable between the 15 and 32 quart containers by just turning the rack around? Nice clean room!

I got one of the CB70 racks about a month or so ago and so far I love it. They shed great and the heat cable works well.

from the side.

Heres one showing the heat cable.

We are using the new Vision CB-70 racks and simply love them! This is the future of rack systems. It is sturdy, lightweight and the best buy for your money! You can have multiple size tubs in the same rack. So if you have a small collection, you can have shoe boxes, sweater boxes and CB-70s all in one rack system. The heating and ventilation systems are the best we have seen to date. Now that the tubs don’t hang from rails they won’t sag or crack over time. With 6 steel poles for stability this rack is as sturdy as any steel rack on the market but it can be broken down for shipping or storage.

are getting ready for our first eggs to hatch next week, and I couldn't be happier in terms of how well the snakes acclimated to these new cages. They are feeding, breeding, didn't miss a beat when I transitioned them all to these racks. This was the first time I used this type of heating system and not only was it simple to put in, the development of the eggs (as determined by candling when laid) was perfect. I am already looking forward to next year and the ease of moving the racks around is really helpful!!

I agree whole-heartedly with Greg, they are the best rack system on the market. They are the most universal and adaptable that I have ever used in the last 30 years. You pick the tray and it will hold it. Vision has spent two years working with various breeders to perfect this system.

I have 20 of them using 3 different sizes of tubs that I have been using for the last couple of months. I would echo the sentiments of the others that have posted. They are light but sturdy, easy to move around, and will accomodate virtually any size tub making them very flexible. Tubs slide in and out easily, and the heating cable works great and can be easily changed or modified. One of the things I really like is the fact that you can easiy install less heat on the top levels and more heat on the lower levels simply by putting less or an extra row or two of heat rope. This really allows you to have a more stable temp throughout the rack and has eliminated the problem of the lower levels being too cold especially if you have a concrete floor in your snake room.

The best racks out in my opinion.
I looked into the vision.. but by the time you ship it, buy tubs which are 11- 12 bucks a pop, your almost paying the same as for one the ARS 7010. (thats if you get the vision that is suitable for adult ball pythons, or smaller boas, such as nics etc.)
I Love my ARS cages, they are perfect. Like a piece of art.
Not saying the Vision is not a good cage, Greg mentioned a few good points, about being able to use differant tubs etc.
But it doesnt compare to the ARS 7010.
It is a little heavier, but it wont fall over if ya bump it either.
Not too mention brian is a pleasure to deal with.
Plus when you get it, pull out of the box, stack it up, plug it in and your done, im sure the vision takes a while to assemble.

Happy herping

I looked into 5 or 6 different ball racks before purchasing the Vision CB 70 racks.

The ARS rack was my second choice.

The ARS rack was gonna cost me $895.00 plus a minimum of $200 for shipping for a total of at least $1100.00.

The Vision racks cost me $599.00, plus $120.00 for the tubs, plus $89.00 for shipping for a total of $809.00.

The Vision rack allows me to house 11 tubs in the same space that the other racks allow only 10 tubs.

The Vision rack allows me to custom heat each level so that I can get even temps from top to bottom using one thermostat. It was easy to put together and will be easy to take apart if I ever need to store it.

I like the fact that the ceiling panel is plastic instead of metal on the Vision racks and I really like the fact that the tubs are supported from the bottom instead of hanging from rails which has eliminated the problem of heavy females sagging the bottoms of the tubs.

The fact that I can also use the same rack as a hatchling rack and with their new sweater box sized tubs made it a no brainer for me to go with Vision.

I may have to try one out.. i have every other kind of cage and rack, may as well get one of these.
I do like the idea of being able to use differant size tubs in one rack.
The heating and sagging botom thing ive never had a problem with , so thats not a concearn to me.
But i think i may give one a try next time i have a litter of boas.

Thanks for your info

having them enclosed was one of the reasons I was hesitant to get the visions. I was very happy when I unpacked the box and discovered that you CAN enclose each level. Here is a close up pic of the level dividers.

You can see the plastic tabs on the edges that are facing up and down. These are on EACH edge. If you felt the need, you could cut pieces out of stiff plastic sheets to slide into those tabs and COMPLETELY enclose each level, not just on three sides. You can keep each seperate level open or closed or just partially closed as needed. I think this is one of the strenghts of the vision rack system, the ability to easily modify it to your own individual needs.

>>I am SURE that the Vision racks are really nice. That is not in question. Ball Pythons like to HIDE. When you look at your Boaphile racks and then you look at the Vision racks, which one gives the most feeling of hiding? Which one allows the Ball Pythons to feel like they are closer to being in there PREFERED dark hole. When you walk in and turn the lights on which racks still give the Ball Pythons a sense of not being seen? When I am feeding any Ball Pythons that are finicky feeders once they feel SECURE and feel like they are hiding they tend to feed better. If it "aint Broke" applies to these very finicky awesome Ball Python racks. If you like Vision Racks then God Bless and I am SURE you will do fine and perhaps my theory on how much Ball Pythons like to hide is over the top and not important. I am only suggesting that your Boaphile Racks are awesome anyway and they look very nice and you have already said that your animals are doing fine in the Racks you already use. It is NOT A RIGHT OR WRONG CHOICE but how many people have had complete breeding seasons with the new Vision Racks and felt like their productivity was the same or more? Regardless good luck with your choice and most importantly good luck with your animals. They are very lucky that we put this much time and effort into deciding which Rack system is the best choice for them. Now that is cool.

It seems a lot of effort in order to have the pieces cut to fit each shelf for each rack for each tub. Has anyone actually done so? How does the rack look after all of that piece by piece custom tweaking? But it is nice to know that the rack will accommodate such modifications. Have a nice day.

No they don't. Actually I don't see how they could since the panels would be different sizes depending on the types of tubs you prefer. I don't think it would be that difficult to cut your own though.
