A Morning Surprise

4goodnesssnakes Apr 25, 2006 12:29 PM

I am so happy I just had to tell someone.
Well last night I had to sleep on the couch. My husband kept kicking in his sleep. I was woke up this morning to the sound of my leuc Luke calling. He was calling like crazy, it seemed every 30 seconds. I went in the frog room to see what they where up to and that's when I noticed that the sound wasn't coming from the middle shelf it was coming from the bottom. It wasn't Luke calling it was his 10 month old baby. Father and son where having a call-off. I was so excited. I ran in the bedroom waking up my husband yelling "It's a boy" I have been wanting a boy from my 2 breeders to put with the female I got at a show 2 years ago. I even kept 4 of my 2004 clutch to see if one turned out to be a male, all girls.

There is no deference between their calls so I don't know how long the baby has been calling. I'm just amazed how loud he is for a little guy. Now he just needs a name that starts with an L.

Here is a pic I took right after he called again.

He's a very precocious youngster for a leuc. I've never heard leucs call that young.

I don't know much about when dart frogs start calling, but one of my mantella froglets has been calling, and he is only 4 months post met!!! I was completely shocked to hear his tiny voice..... He is only the size of a fingernail and already calling. He is also the most brightly colored of my group so far.
