Accuracy will be dependent upon your experience with probing a specimen and how cooperative the specimen is while being probed. Having said that, I would recommend the ball-tipped probes if you are new to using such and further recommend you have someone with a high level of experience show you the proper technique and guide you through the process a few times, as technique is critical for acquiring correct results and the safety of the specimen being probed. Merely following written directives or watching a video will not give you the proper guidance...

Good luck,

Jeff

i live in bennington vermont, i know more than the local "qualified" exotics vet who has been trained in reptiles.
she tried to probe my snake backwards with something that would have torn a snakes sexual organs, good thing she put it up his butt.

if you know of anybody in my area that could help me out id be glad to contact them, ill try looking on my local herp organizations site.

make sure you get stainless steel ball tipped, dont get anything thats plated or straight tipped. With probe sets you get what you pay for. Many of the less expensive sets are plated. I have heard of the ball tip breaking off on the cheaper probes. You cannot tell by looking, but I suspect that the ball tip is soldered or braised on with the cheap probes, rather then the probe being turned from a single piece of metal.
