For Lele

Ethan69 Jul 30, 2003 11:50 AM

Lele, I am going to try finding out what happened to your chameleon. It might take a couple of days, but I believe I can figure it out. I need some more info on lighting, cricket dusting, anything that looked unusual, eyes will not open fully in the morning.

Lele, I have an idea on helping your chameleon drink. What she needs is some Electrolytes. Try using a syringe and get some medicine called Dioralyte or Lectade. Do this several times daily. I would probably say 1ml per 100g of Chameleon twice daily would seems appropriate. Also, spray your chameleon more than usual. To open the chameleons mouth you must pull down on the chameleons gular crest (flap of skin under chin). I don't think you want to do this but force feeding your chameleon. This is the only thing I can think of right now to help him eat. For the soil, I would take all of it out and put paper towels at the bottom of the cage unless you want to breed your chameleon. Since you saw soil in the mouth of your chameleon, his could cause your chameleon to die if swallowed or you can use bark chips at the bottom of the cage.

Hi Ethan,

I'm way ahead of you Check out my last response to you on the Bart Pooped thread.

Bart is the only one left, the soil in Makeda's mouth was probably from her death throes (both vet and Kammers said this and it makes sense), Bart's ICU tank has pt on top of bark due to grasping/falling problems, he has been getting pedialyte rather than water for days as did Makeda when she was in ICU. I am misting, he has hi-humidity, low temp, etc.

Not sure about the leg, grasp, etc. but the neo-cal seems to have made a difference. Thanks again,
lele

To me, it sounds your chameleon was in the early, early stages of MBD, but lucky you, you got it right in time. Veiled Chameleon had the same problems when he had MBD.Good luck and your welcome.
