Thanks and an update.........

Thanks to everyone for your kind words of congratulation. Sorry that I can't answer each one individually but I did put in a full day at school and then took my kids to swim practice. The adrenaline can't keep me going much longer.....need sleep.

I did give the babies a bath when I got home so I was able to get a closer look at them. I just stand there with a stupid grin on my face. I have them in three clear-topped containers side by side on the floor. I can sit on a chair and watch all three recent litters. The variety is what really stands out when I'm looking at the Jungles next to the Squaretails next to the Motleys next to the normals. Very cool. Fortunately, I get a break now as the next gravid female is not due until mid-June. This will give me some time to enjoy these kids and take lots of photos.

I also got the mothers out for congratulation and post-birth weighing. Del Fuego weighed in at 8.5 lbs after beginning the breeding trial at 10.0 lbs. Jewel weighed in at 7.5 lbs. after beginning at 9.5 lbs. They will be getting a little treat tonight.

I did a quick check on the Salmon Super Jungle and it appears that she is a she.

Again, thanks for the support. We have a strong community of hobbyists who are doing some great work with these animals.

snake for snake is one of the best if not the best litter that I have seen. It looked like you may have more than one super. Enjoy the rest. I look forward to seeing more pics of these litters.

Thanks for your comments Bill. I too share a suspicion that there may be more than one Super in there. On a couple of them, the head marking and eye color are different but not as extreme as the obvious Super. The question I have is if every Super Jungle has the same shape to their head marking or can there be some variation.

Given the marked variability in jungles I would be surprised if they were the same. Pete has 3 super jungles for sale on his web site and they all show some difference in head markings.

I'm going to have to look more closely at eye color as well and see if there are some distinctions to be made there.
