Sand in Squirt's eyes

star Apr 25, 2006 10:00 PM

Hi everyone. I want to thank everyone who helped me with my Squirt girl a few months ago, changing the heating in her cage to a higher temperature brought her to her normal "jump jump" self.

Now, she seems to have sand in her eyes. Again. The last time something like this happened, I just gave her a bath pretty much every day and her eyes got better. but now she's showing her gravid (but possibly fake gravid) colors. She showed them last year, but was not laying eggs, so I'm guessing this is a normal springtime thing for her.

Do you tink I should resume giving her daily baths, until her eyes look better? I don't want to stress her too much, but she honestly can't open one of her eyes right now.

Thanks for your advice again!

or either eye it is an eye infection and should really be treated with some antibiotic or ointment. If this has happened before she may not have been fully over whatever was causing this, and it just got a grip on her again.

Sometimes the closed eye/s go hand in hand with a respiratory infection, but if you see no problems or hear any popping sounds when she breathes, then you are most likely looking at (an eye infection) can be caused by bacteria. I treat a lot of minor things myself, but... I would say DON'T mess around with their eyes! With these type infections they usually just get worse and go down hill.

I would call your vet and see what he has to say, and have her seen if he recommends it.

Let us know how ya make out. Sure hope She feels better soon
