Crested Morph question

-alan- Apr 25, 2006 11:19 PM

Hi, this is one of my 05 offsprings and I was intrigue by the dorsal pattern it has. It is almost solid and I am wondering if anyone has seen anything similar to this? I am crossing my fingers here, but can this be a legitimate new line of crested geckos? Thanks!

I think it's called a bicolour. My male has a solid tan stripe down his back.

However, this crested gecko is a fire but only have the fire pattern blended into a solid stripe. It shouldn't be classified as a bi-color, should it?

I'm not sure. Do you have a side view? Hard to tell from the top of his body. Beautiful gecko!

Fire, A nice fire at that. Bicolor I think of as usually just being a slight shade difference from base color to the dorsal color. Bicolors are typically almost perfectly striped, and in your gecko you can see it is just a modified almost straight flame. Some might call it a harlequin, but I don't think it has enough patterning on the limbs to be considered one.
For fun, one of my pairs for this year

I wouldn't call it a bi-color or harliquinn either, just a really nice fire or chevron back maybe. A bi-color tends to be more patternless on the top and sides. Here is my bi-color for comparison.

I was going to also say something about how bicolors typically are more dull down the center than on the sides. Nice lookin gecko Lady.

Thanks she was a real surprise, thought she would just be a plain old yellow/buckskin then she fired up suddenly and showed her 'true' colors. Hoping to get some nice babies from her.

Thanks!
I thought it's under the fire catergory too. It wouldn't be a harlequin. Here is a harlequin I was able to produce last year. It's shedding but you can still see the contrast it has.

Thanks! I'm going to put her in a breeding project and hopefully I can get some good offspring in the coming season.
