Hi
Was thinking of setting up a reptile room . It will be kings and milks only . Not sure if going to use heat tapes and this is only room in house without Central air not sure if I should install a window unit think might be best to have it than not .

Any ideas ,input on how reptle room here in Miami would be great . I am new to Miami recently moved from CA have 2 kingsnakes and 1 milksnake.

No don't heat the whole room... in fla the winter temps are never less than the typical hibernation temps required for most herps around the world. and tough they will need heat I would use a under tank pad on a day night timer in an isolated corner of each enclosure so your animales can move around to regulate their own body temp. heating the entire room will cause fatigue and stress. I have also found as a eastern coachwhip breeder that your snakes will do better in captivity if they can view the outdoors through a door or window during the day, I belive it keeps them sane as most people have very bad luck with adult wild cought coachwhips I have 3 pairs and all are wild cought and all eat and breed, do to the discoveries I have made in their habitat needs, try it and you'll notice your snakes stay out of their hideboxes and never rub their noses...JB

Great the room ofcourse does have window so light is no problem. Think best to use ac since going to allow light in and than heat pad under one side of enclosure as you suggest.
With ac thinking of going for mid 70s room temp?

thanks
