my albino cali just laid 8 good eggs after breeding to a pueblan/nelson. Now my question is can I use a different male for a second clutch? I wouldn't want to get eggs from both males in one clutch and not be 100% sure what they are.

Hi kirkpatrick and congratulations on the 8 eggs, i hope they stay viable for you.
1: can I use a different male for a second clutch?
1: = Yes
2: I wouldn't want to get eggs from both males in one clutch and not be 100% sure what they are.
2: = you will get eggs from the sperm of one male, either the retained sperm of male 1 or the new sperm of male two.
Also if the males look completly different from each other then you could use that as an indicator for the hatchlings but that isnt 100%.
so if you want to be completly sure , use male 1 again.
Ps only second clutch if the female is at a good weight and she is 100% healthy.

Last year i bred her to another cal king and she double clutched without even being reintroduced to the male. It was also her first year breeding. I feed my snakes a lot and keep them clean and healthy.
Also if i decide to use a second male it is going to be an albino ruthven/corn. So I think they should look completely different than the pueblan/nelson ones. I just wanted to be sure that she couldn't use retained sperm and the new sperm. So i'm thinking that I need to put her with the new male asap before the retained sperm fertilizes the new eggs. Right?
and thanks for the help

There is no guarantee either way, all you can do is try.
as the males are completly different looking, you would use that as your visual guide as to whether the babys are from one or the other.
I can say this.
on a few of the occations where i have done the same as you are going to do, i had some clutch's that hatched young looking as if they could of come from either one of the different fathers.
So if you want 100% known parents then use male one again.
