Was this guy more strongly black and white as a hatchling? There's a axanthic brooksi at the pet store that is a beautiful black and white, but I'd be more interested if I thought he'd stay more strongly black as an adult.

It's not how many snakes you have. It's how happy and healthy you can keep them.

Bill,

The real contasting black and white line of axanthics tend to muddy up quite a bit as adults.

black and white baby that muddies up:

New England Line baby axanthic:

and this is what they grow up to look like:

The New England line is on the left and the darker one is the mother to the nice black and white babies.

Thanks for the post. The adult on the right doesn't look too "muddy" to me. Actually, the one on the left is nice looking as well. There's a point where the it's no longer a "muddy" look but is quite appealing as its own different look. I might be happy with either of those appearances in an adult. I think I'll have a vacant 55 gallon aquarium pretty soon. While even I wouldn't put a hatchling king in that big an aquarium, I would get the guy with the idea that the 55 gallon aquarium would be his home someday. From what I think I'm hearing, a 55 gallon aquarium would be a pretty good home for an adult Brooksi, and everyone says that the Brooksi are very nice pets. If the legislature gets closer to passing that law against getting new snakes, I may start some panic buying, and this guy could be a nice addition.
