How's this for a light colored WC LTC male?

O_S Jul 30, 2003 12:11 PM

I've had this guy for almost a year and a half... He's been in the states for about 2 years.

If he wasn't an import, I'd make up a morph name for him

This really shows the contrast... I suppose the male on the left could be considered a little "dark".

Why make up a morph name??? This is no morph, it's a normal! A nice one but still a normal!

I know it has been said many times before but I guess some of you don't know it yet. Normal BP come in very different shades. From light to dark, from yellow to brown. So if you have one that is a little different from the rest it isn't always a morph!

Geez... Did I say anywhere it was NOT a normal ball python?? Get a clue!

I'm sorry if I mistunderstood your post. You said: "If he wasn't an import, I'd make up a morph name for him".
And because there are many people who claim they have morphs while they have normals I thought this was another one.
I'm sorry again if I offended you in any way.

One persons morph could be another persons normal right? Please tell me what the "rules" are for this topic.

Thanks

I'm thinking to be a good morph it needs to be significantly different from normal AND genetically reproducible in a fairly simple manner.

Since my male wasn't all that extreme I was hoping he might turn out to be a co-dominant with a more extreme super but all 6 babies where more typical than he. I suppose it could still be recessive but if this is all the better it gets then it isn't a very exciting project. At best maybe it could enhance a more interesting morph

The bottom snake looks just like my female... kind of greenish color. I tried to capture it in a pic but my digital sucks for color. I'd like to know how your projects with the snake turn out... I really think my girl is some kind of beautiful and would love to know if you have anything cool come of it. MAN, it is SO great to finally see another like her.

I get all sorts of odd colors with digital cameras by accident (high yellows that look axanthic etc.). The female is very normal looking, not really at all green as in that picture.

It's the male that was interesting, rather light. However, since the babies turned out normal I sold the project reasonably (actually most of the babies have gone to pet stores, but one female went with dad). I have too many other projects. Maybe his light color will be recessive (maybe not) and maybe it would be a nice addition to other morphs but I just didn't have the space to keep up with it since he really wasn't all that extreme.

hmmm, well that's really funny. My snake looks like that but I can't get it in pictures. Your snake doesn't look like that but you can pull off the color I want, haha.

My girl has basically that greenish color near the top. The scales on her side are the greenish with small flecks of black fading down to either yellow or white scales with flecks of black. She's probably just a normal, but as we all point out some of the prettiest balls are normals. If I can make the color stay true in breeding I'd be very happy. She's only 600g right now so she has plenty of growing to do before I worry about it. Thanks for the reply.

Please post a pic of the babys

RandyRemington Aug 01, 2003 10:14 PM

Some of the pics aren't the best and they where all normal but here is my page on this breeding, pick NEXT to get to the page with the babies.
Page on my site about this breeding - nothing extraordinary
