Western Hognose not feeding

donedeal Apr 26, 2006 07:28 PM

I just received a 9 inch female western hognose. The place I got her from said she was eating pinkie mice. Twice in the last week I have given her a thawed out pinkie but she won't eat it. Is it possible she will only eat live pinkies, or should I keep trying?

Western Hognose are great snakes to work w/, but sometimes it may take a little more to get one going good on pinkies.
If you have access to live pinkies, they should work. But if it was me I'd brain a F/T first. Use a small container like a butter tub or deli cup, put the Hognose in w/ the brained pink and give them some alone time in the dark. Repeat every 4 days or so. I'll bet by the first week you'll have an eating Hognose.
Good luck,
Dell
