My new boa cages... 99% complete!

O_S Jul 30, 2003 12:27 PM

All I have left is the edging on the front. Oh, and there IS one non-boa in there LOL...

Each cage measures 4 x 2 x 1... The total dimensions of the unit are 6 x 4 x 2, and it is divided into two units measuring 3 x 4 x 2 for easy transport.

The whole thing cost $400. About the price of ONE vision cage

I'm assuming you built that yourself. It looks very similar to the rack I built except it has sliding doors. My question is how are you going to heat them. I love heat tape, but you can't put that directly on the floor and I wouldn't think it would heat through 3/4 melamine? did you sandwich it between two boards? Looks great though! BrianD

Actually heat tape or flex watt heats thru the 3/4 inch melamine quite nicely. Just make sure you leave at least a 1/4 inch gap between the cages so heat doesn't build up.

The heat tape is mounted to the ceiling of each cage. A 12" section of 11" wide tape heats each cage to a hot spot of 90 degrees, 1" off the floor of the cage. Each piece of heat tape actually heat THROUGH the ceiling of one cage, and heats the floor of the cage above it. Works great.
