White Spotted Gecko vs. Marbled Gecko...

macajuel Apr 27, 2006 12:22 PM

Ok, so i went to a reptile show and i bought a Marbled Gecko. Before i purchased it i asked the vendor if i could put it in with 2 Whit spotted females and he said yes. Sad to say he was wrong, i put it in and the bigger spotted female (all 3 are roughly the same size)would chase it around every now and then. When i woke up a good portion of the Marbled tail was gone. What should i do. I have them seperated. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

Tarentola annularis are very agressive Geckos, which normally do not tolerate other species. Hence it had to be expecterd that they injure a marbled.
Also the two species have quite different climatic and environmwental needs, even though both are rock dwellers.
The Tarentokla do need a dry setup, whereas the G. grossmanni need a fake rock wall positioned in a rain forest climate. They also want to have vines with relatively large leaves to partially cover the walls, since they need those to hide and to find suitable egg laying places.

Hope that helps

Ingo

i was told that they could be put together by the vendor that i bought it from. I usually do my research but i was eager to get another gecko and they had no more White spotteds. I asked what species could i put with the other 2 and he said marbles. I guess a buck is more important than customer satisfactory to some people. I learned my lesson. Thanks again.
