Rankins dragons

DustBunny Apr 27, 2006 02:24 PM

Hey!

I mostly post in the rabbit forums but love reptiles as well. I have two snakes (a corn and a bp) and use to have a rescue Ig that sadly passed away. My boyfriend also loves reptiles, and wants to get a pair of rankins dragons. (yes he's done all the research and everything). We're having some trouble actually finding out where we can get them though. Of course he's not going to be getting them until after he finishes the cage and gets everything he needs, but we wanted to start looking around now. He lives in the NJ/NYC area. We would also be willing to pay to have a pair shipped. Can anyone recomend either a breeder in that area or a good place we could purchase them online??

Thanks so much!

keep your eyes on the classifieds section for bearded dragons. rankins pop up here and there. www.dragonsden.com is a very known breeder for BDs and rankins. pricey but great dragons. others are out there too of course. hope you find a pair soon

If you mean Kevin Dunne it's www.dragonsdenherp.com/ but I did not know he ever bred Lawson aka Rankin Dragons.

I know sandfire ranch that he is working with now has bred them in the past.

Also breeders of them are:
www.sundialreptile.com/ excellent care sheet on them
www.atomiclizardranch.net/
and also Josh who post on here as pdragon1

Be careful in classified ads that you deal with a reputible breeder, as there is one out there selling off cross bresd with vitticeps and those have a history of having problems, especially eggbinding in the females when they are older amd none development problems. They deny they are crosses publicly and in post call them pure, but her theory is that its been a few generations since they were crossed so they are pure again....... Sadly that is not the case and in some of the photos of the babies, you can tell they are crosses. Check references as there is at least one person I know got one of these and put it in feedback or on other sites.

The breeder is now trying to sell them a "Rankins with color" and claiming they are a new morph.. so be careful there are not crosses or that you know they are upfront
